Girl's night out

Tonight the women of the family are taking my SIL out to dinner. I do NOT want to go but can't very well be selfsh :) . I'd much rather sit home in my jammies and wallow in self pity. It's getting harder and harder every day to go to work and just function normally when everything with the adoption is so up in the air. Not having any idea when we will travel is very stressful and makes the normal everyday things that I do seem like it's a huge deal. Yes, this post is self absorbed pity piva. I'm afraid to take on new projects at work because I don't know if I'll be able to see them through but at the same time, I don't want to pass up any opportunities either ! URGH

Dossier submissions

As the date for new dossier submission in Ukraine approaches, I fing myself more worried than ever. I don't know where these thoughts are coming from but I'm trying to work on being more positive. Everything is in God's hands and every day I find myself giving my worries back to him. I was discussing this yesterday with a close friend who happens to be a co-worker and she's so very encouraging.......I need that right now. This morning she emailed me that she said a few special prayers because she had a feeling I'd need them today !! Kinda makes me worry more, does she know something I don't? LOL

Work is going well, I'm finishing up a project and presenting it in a meeting tomorrow morning. It's been nice to have something to focus my attention on for the past week.

Well meaning friend

It's the beginning of a new week so I'm trying to start out with a positive attitude.
Yesterday, while shopping with a friend, she asked if DH and I were worried/concerned that the child/children we adopt will have mental/behavioral issues. I know that her concern is based on stories she's heard about institionalized children that have been abused or neglected. I answered the best I could and appreciate the tone of her question. I wasn't quite sure if she got the answer she was hoping but I did the best that I could.

I told her that IF we are faced with those issues we are fully prepared to get the help our child needs and of course it would be difficult for all involved. I also told her that most of the time, you hear negative stories about adoption and very rarely the good ones. I'm not saying that love conquers all, just that we are commited to this and will deal with it if and when the time comes.

New Year

I haven't blogged in few weeks, just too busy with the holiday. Nothing new on the adoption front other than our dossier is now in Ukraine being translated.
